Assembly of AACC:
To establish competent Centre for South-east Europe

The regular assembly of the Alps-Adriatic Centre for Cross-border Co-operation was held in Klagenfurt on Friday, November 20th, 2009. At the assembly members from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Austria were present. The elections confirmed the existing presidency, however some new members were elected into the Management board.
In his report the president of the AACC Bernard Sadovnik presented the various activities of the Centre, which goes from the support of establishing contacts with different partners (communities, companies, government) in Slovenia and vice-versa to the planning of symposiums, excursions and to the implementation of cross-border projects between Slovenia and Austria respectively Carinthia. Partly due to the support of the AACC some Austrian and international companies entered the Slovenian market (Epamedia, Aquasist, Veolia and Poeyry).
In future the Centre will - together with the existing tasks - endeavour for the building of a competent centre for South-east Europe and for closer cooperation among communities on both sides of the border.
Some contacts were made in Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely in the Posavina Canton. Out of this reason the assembly elected the President of the mentioned Canton mr.Mijo Matanovič into the Management board. The president Matanovič expects support at the building of infrastructure and an early access of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union. Elected to the Board were also the Mayors Franc Mužič (Goriška Brda) and Ferdinand Vouk (Velden am Woerthersee) and the former boss of Epamedia, dr. Heinrich Schuster from Vienna. Bernard Sadovnik was chosen again for president and the General-Secretary remains mag. Filip Warasch.
The contract with the Carinthian country government and the AACC (which is the fundamental basis of activities) was again prolonged.

Town Villach granted the cultural reward to the Consensus group

On Tuesday, October the 6th, the Consensus group received the cultural reward- after the award of the European parliament (European Citizenship Award in July this year). The mayor of Villach Helmut Manzenreiter said in his explanation that the mentioned group has big merits in overcoming of historically created borders in the hearts of Carinthian inhabitants and also merits for mutual communication between the two national groups.
The members of the Consensus group stressed that the reward motivates them in their further activities for the solution of still opened questions of the Austrian State Treaty from the year 1955.
