18. Cultural week of Carinthian Slovenes in Osoje/Ossiach
Important role of AACC
The 18th Cultural week of the
Carinthian Slovenes, organised by the Office
for the Slovenian national minority at the Carinthian
country government, was recently successfully
held in Osoje/Ossiach near Beljak/Villach. The
speaker at this year's celebration was the Austrian
ambassador in Ljubljana (Slovenia) Dr. Erwin
Kubesch. Among other things he mentioned the
meaning of the fruitful cooperation in the Alps-Adriatic
region. He said : "Carinthia is endeavouring
for the cross border cooperation. In this process
it recognised the added value of the national
minorities where the AACC in Klagenfurt has
a specific place. In this context the cultural
cooperation essentially supports the formation
of the regional network and also supports the
overcoming of the still existing historical
barriers,
so it strengthens the economical and social
position of the region in the global competition."
