The president of the AACC Bernard Sadovnik and
the Secretary-General mag. Filip Warasch visited
the community Sevnica (Slovenia) Last
week in May the representatives of the Alps-Adriatic
Centre for Cross-border Co-operation in Klagenfurt
visited the community Sevnica with the intention
to strengthen and promote the existing contacts.
On the working meeting where also the mayor
of Sevnica Srečko Ocvirk, the director of community
administration Zvone Košmerl and Morana Palovič
from the Regional development agency Krško,
were present, they discussed the possibilities
of cooperation on the field of tourism, too.
The guests from Austrian Carinthia visited afterwards
the beautiful Sevnica castle.

Minority rights and minority
protection are constituent parts of a democratic
society ...
The honorary speaker Gerhard Weis from Vienna
stressed in his speech the meaning of minority
rights in the parliamentary, social-political
and national spheres. He supported the way of
the started dialogue between the representatives
of Carinthian Slovenes and representatives of
the homeland organisations. He also mentioned
the question of seeking the (historical) truth,
formation of opinion ,distinguishing among truth,
half-truth and lie and the responsibility of
media employees in the society. He mentioned
the activities of the Alps-Adriatic Centre in
Klagenfurt, which is endeavouring for cross
border cooperation among Slovenia, Austria and
other South-eastern European countries. He evaluated
the minority programmes of Austrian Radio Television

How do you evaluate
the today s European situation / the situation
in the Alps-Adriatic region and what were the
comments about the initiatives and activities
of the AACC in the recent years?
The "New Europe" significantly
and dynamically changed its political picture
in the last ten years. The changes - also in
the economy - were and always are feelable in
the typical European Alps-Adriatic region where
numerous initiatives endeavour to catch the
actual time trends and to orientate them in
the prosperous and at the same time balanced
development of the perspectives impulses in
the region. Among them the initiatives of the
Alps-Adriatic Centre for Cross-border Co-operation
(AACC) are for sure recognisable, we are establishing
our actual informational network for 8 years-in
the sense of the interests and demands and also
for the well-being of our partners and economical
innovations, what positive echos to our initiatives
and activities confirm us continuosly.
It is possible to say that the AACC formation
precisely fits the time challenges and that
the AACC is faced nowadays with many new trends
which co-form the picture of the region where
