Jure Žerjav, the mayor of the community Kranjska Gora in interview

Skiing championship (SC) would bring new impulses for Kranjska gora

Why have you decided to support the idea of the Carinthian country governor Doerfler for the common candidacy for the without borders World championship in alpine skiing 2017?

Kranjska gora is one of the traditional organizers of the World cup in alpine skiing, the Vitranc cup will soon have its 50th anniversary. Our opinion is to upgrade this competition with the organisation of the World championship. We are well aware that in the momentary situation and in accordance with the demands of the SC such event could hardly be carried out in just one place. Instantly we accepted the initiative of the Carinthian country governor ... more

Carinthian country governor Gerhard Doerfler about his proposal the without borders skiing world championship (C) 2017 in the "Three borders corner"

How was accepted your interesting proposal to organise a without borders skiing C in the three borders corner of Slovenia, Italy and Austria?
The mayors of the communities Tarvisio, Kranjska gora and Bad Kleinkirchheim were very enthusiastic about my idea and immediately took all the necessary steps in their communities. Bad Kleinkirchheim and Tarvisio already have the suitable tracks, Kranjska gora will have to invest in the infrastructure. Kranjska gora will be the host town.

Which are the next steps that must be made for a successful application in 2017?
In the next weeks the meetings with the FIS regarding our candidature and the necessary changes in their regulations for such an application. Afterwards will follow the discussions with skiing unions in Slovenia, Italy and Austria, then the application for a world cup finals of the three participating sites.

Such skiing C would bring the region a substantial economic initiative .Which investments are planned in the Carinthian infrastructure?
In Bad Kleinkirchheim only some minor adjustments are necessary. The FIS Franz Klammer slope is at the very end and as such ready for competitions.
